Zooplankton
Zooplankton are critically important in marine ecosystems. They are ‘rapid responders’ for understanding and predicting responses to climate change and impacts of commercial harvesting. The Census of Marine Zooplankton project collected these animals which drift through the ocean using new approaches and technologies- including optical and acoustic remote observation, remotely operated vehicles, submersibles, and instrumented net systems. The data footprint on the map traces the paths of some of the research vessels. More
